Fractal Tune Smithy Lambdoma View Information |
|
The Lambdoma view in Fractal Tune Smithy let's you play on an arrangement of musical ratios attributed to Pythagoras in which notes all in the same row or column play pure musical harmonies. The particular design and colour of this keyboard is due to Barbara Hero. You can play it using the mouse or the p.c. keyboard. The p.c. keyboard has some limitations as a musical instrument - so only four rows at a time are accessible, and it is also normal to find that many chords of three or more notes can't be played from your p.c. keyboard.
If you want to use this view to its full potential you need Barbara Hero's keyboard - see www.lambdoma.com for details. You will get an unlock key when you purchase the keyboard.
Many users have said that I charge too little for this software. The price will go up to $150 in August. You can still purchase it at the old price but if you like to show your appreciation of the software by purchasing at the new price already you can do so. There will be a tiered system of prices and the current price will become the one for those on low income or students and unemployed etc.
This page is for any users of FTS who want the Lambdoma view for use with mouse or p.c. keyboard on its own. Please use this page to order it if you do so, so that Barbara Hero can be credited with a commission for your order.
Thanks, Robert

Bounce Metronome

You can use Bounce Metronome for anything from a basic steady metronome tick all the way up to the most complex rhythms. That includes rhythms with swing, dance rhythms, polyrhythms and additive rhythms. The new innovative gravity bounce helps you to play along with the metronome for even the most complex rhythms with swing, syncopation and so on.
"It's almost like having your own personal conductor for your practice session"
Most metronomes can only play rhythms with a steady beat. Also though they may have moving lights or other visuals, it is impossible to work with them entirely visually - the visuals don't indicate the moment of the tick precisely. They give some indication of the moment of the tick, but not with the precision of, say, a conductor's baton.
Bounce Metronome overcomes this limitation with its innovative Gravity Bounce. This is a technique that was used in early movies when a bouncing ball bounced on the lyrics to help the audience to sing along with the movie.
The reason this works is that it is very easy to anticipate the moment when a bouncing ball will hit the ground - and sing, play or clap exactly in time with the beats. Conductors also use the same technique - they bounce the baton off an "invisible plane" which makes it easy for the orchestra to anticipate the exact moment of the beat so that they can play along in time.
The result is that you can play exactly in time with the metronome purely visually even without the tick. In fact you can switch off the sound for Bounce Metronome and still use it for practice - which can be useful on occasion.
With this innovation it becomes much easier to practise rhythms with swing and irregular beats as you can anticipate the exact moment of the next beat visually.
